Daily Devotion 11-08

Today’s devotion is going to be a little different in that it is a devotion about devotions. Redundant? Possibly but as I was doing my devotion today I was struck with this statement (after reading it I urge you to take a second and think about it):

“People’s lives depend on how skilled we are!”

Now after pondering on that for a little while I was hit with the reality that as humans we complain about circumstances and events that happen in our lives that we don’t understand. But do we ever take the time to stop and think how is God using this to sharpen me or train me for something. Another way to think about it is if you were tasked to cut down a forest would you want an axe that was sharp or dull. Well obviously you would want a sharp axe so that every swing made as much impact as possibly. Well we should look at our Christian walk with God the exact same way! We should study his word, and participate in discipleship through a local church or conference so that when God puts an oppurtunity in front of us to share his word we can make the most impact as possible. If you are not skilled in His word then you are the same as a dull axe…useless! Consider this verse in II Timothy 2:15

15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

So that is it. Study God’s word, learn what he has in store for you and make yourself available to be used as a tool for HIM!

Daily Devotion 11-5-07

Well today I can honestly say that I experienced something that I never have before. I don’t think that you have lived unless you can say that you have beaten the breakfast crowd into a restaurant and then left with the lunch crowd. As bad as it sounds it was actually a great time. A brother in Christ and I sat and talked about topics from Church, to living the Christian walk and the stuggles that we all go through. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and I had a great time.  It is crucial to share about the things that God is doing in our lives. Now that brings me to todays devotion and thoughts for today. Fellowship, the true biblical fellowship is lost in most churches unfortunately. For some reason fellowship in current churches has turned into a meeting that requires food. Meaning that most of the church think that a fellowship is where the church gets together and eats. And before any baptist freak out I am not opposed to eating (if you have seen me lately you would know that) I am just going back to the purpose of true fellowship which is spiritual growth not stomach growth.  I fear that some churches have lost the ability to share and experience trials together.  We are in a church that I am proud to say is not that way at all.  I have bonded with several awesome Christian brothers that have not issue calling me out ;o) or listening to issues that I might have, and I do the same for them.

Ok so here is the point…

True Fellowship –> True Honesty –> True Love –> True Growth
